Lindsey Vonn (USA) crashes in second downhill training at Bansko
26 February 2009 Lindsey Vonn and Anja Paerson did not make it to the end of today’s official FIS World Cup downhill raining at the Banderitza ski run in Bansko. Current overall leader Lindsey Vonn started tenth but crashed in the middle of the course.

World Champ awarded site at Garmisch

World champ Maria Riesch (GER), who won the gold medal in the slalom at the Val d’Isère World Championships, was made a great present on Saturday night. During the official presentation of Garmisch-Partenkirchen being the host of the coming FIS Alpine Ski World Championships in 2011, Riesch disclosed the other present she was given in addition to the gold medal in the race.

12.02.09World Champion Nicole Hosp will be looking to defend her title in Val d'Isere on Thursday in the giant slalom. The Austrian skier will most likely also taking part in Saturday's special slalom.
Hosp had pulled a ligament in her left knee on the 4th of January in Zagreb, and her participation in the World Championships was in doubt.
Vonn to miss GS
12.02.09Double gold medalist Lindsey Vonn will skip the World Championship giant slalom after slicing a thumb tendon.
Vonn told U.S. team officials she needed another day of rest and still expected to race the slalom later in the week.

Tuesday, 10 February 2009American Lindsey Vonn is on her best way to become the best ever US female skier today after clinching her second gold medal at the Val d’Isère FIS World Championships with an gutsy victory in the treacherous ‘Rhone-Alpes’ downhill raced on a cloudy day with sunny patches.
Vonn, who had won the Super-G race in equally impressive way last week, beat by half a second Swiss ‘wondergirl’ Lara Gut who confirmed her unique talent capturing her second silver medal here after placing 2nd in the Super-combined.
Lindsey Vonn collects annual win in Lake Louise
LAKE LOUISE, Alberta. Lindsey Vonn added a fifth trophy to her collection of victories in Lake Louise when she won a World Cup downhill on one of her favourite runs today. The 24-year-old American earned the first of her 15 World Cup wins in the Canadian resort in December 2004 and has since made a point of winning a downhill every year on the ‘Olympic Run’. The windy conditions worked in favour of the first starter and the most experienced skiers who better managed to deal with the shorter course and the rough weather.
Great season start for Nadia Fanchini
The first speed events of the 2009 season were pretty fantastic for Italy’s Nadia Fanchini this week in Canada. After achieving her best performance on the World Cup tour finishing 2nd in Friday’s downhill won by USA’s Lindsey Vonn, Fanchini went on to celebrate her very first World Cup win on Sunday in a challenging Super-G in which she beat Switzerland’s Fabienne Suter and Andreas Fischbacher who clocked once more the exact same time in a Super-G race. Last season both skiers finished ahead of a Super-G at Sestriere!
